INTERVIEW - US Magazine - Pop-Art Artist Andy Warhol created the hip journal in 1969. He said once, that he founded the magazine, to give his kids something to play with. It was also suggested, that he started the journal, to get press credentials for The New York Film Festival.
Both explanations are probably true, because Warhol was a magazine fan, and loved making one, as much as he loved making movies. In fact, the original INTER / VIEW was subtitled as A Film Journal.
After a few years, it evolved into Andy Warhols INTERVIEW, a groundbreaking magazine that brought talk into print, using the question- and answer-format to bring readers conversations with people from the worlds of film, art, music and fashion. And it inspired also a whole new generation of magazines.
During the publishing years, Mister Warhol changed the nature of art itself. He evolved the philosophy of Art is also Business, by extending the realm of his art activities to include movies, television, books, theater, fashion and design.
As of today, changes were made, and procucers are committed more than ever, to bring back the fame, the magazine had in earlier years. Maybe it is all talk, but the large format, glossy journal, gets better and stronger every month.
